Message from Principal, Ms. Lemons
Traffic Route at Preston

Please take a moment to review the information below regarding traffic and carpool routes. Your cooperation is vital in helping make sure our carpool runs efficiently. (The traffic flow map is included for your reference.)

  • Pull all the way forward before letting students exit the vehicle, even in the rain/cold.
  • Obey signage; ex: Right Turn ONLY when exiting front carpool.
  • Students should be ready to exit the vehicle quickly and independently, using the passenger side of the car.
  • Stay in the carpool line rather than cutting through the parking lot or going around the line of cars.
  • The carpool lane runs the smoothest with a systematic approach. Visualize a roller coaster ride: a set of cars pulls up, students get out, the set of cars leaves, the next group pulls up, etc.
  • If you choose to park in the parking lot (not preferred), parents MUST park and walk their child across the crosswalk. Drop-off in the parking lot is NOT PERMITTED.
  • Students and families should never cross Hilliard Dr. when walking/biking to school, unless at the designated crosswalk.
  • Driving on the wrong side of the street is dangerous and should be avoided for the safety of all.
  • Families may use either carpool line for morning carpool.
  • Afternoon carpool is grade level specific (K-2 students with older siblings in the front; 3-6 students in the gym).

FOR ALL PES TRAFFIC, HILLIARD DRIVE is NOT a thru street during carpool times. Those who are violating our specific traffic routes are causing unnecessary delays.

  • If coming from Ridgeview Drive, you should not be accessing the front carpool line.
  • If coming from Baugh/Emporio Drive, you should not be accessing the gym-side carpool line.

Thank you for your help in following these PES guidelines.
