SPIRIT DAY at Mexican Cactus Bar |
| Preston's first PTA Spirit Day of the school year is Thursday, September 29th at Mexican Cactus Taco Bar (located at corner of Watters and 121). Support the school by purchasing your meal (dine-in or take-out) and just placing your receipt into the box. That's it!! - Preston PTA will get 20% of the sales.
- They have great tacos, including all day breakfast tacos and vegetarian ones.
- Take a break on Thursday and pick up your meal from Mexican Cactus!

 Volunteers Needed Monster Book Fair - Frightfully Good Reads, needs your help! Volunteering for the Book Fair is fun and easy! There are several opportunities many time slots available to help. The volunteers we need fall into 2 basic groups: - Help set-up, student previews and taking down the book fair

Parents will have the opportunity to shop with their student during lunch time, if they are signed up as a lunch visitor or after school. Online shopping will also be available. *The book fair will be open from 5 - 6:30pm during Family Literacy Night. |

| Walk or Ride to School Day Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 12th. It's Walk or Bike to School Day! Skip the carpool line and get active as you head to school. Bus riders will have the option to join the walkers at a designated drop off near the front cross walk. Some lucky students will win prizes too. Don't miss out! |

| Dress Code Reminders Please take a moment to note these reminders about our AISD dress code, which can be found in full in the Student Handbook. Keep in mind that the dress code applies to all students, K-6. Shirts - Tank tops, tube tops, halters, midriffs, backlesstops, spaghettistraps, spandex/leotard tops, off the shoulder tops, or low cut tops are prohibited.
- Shirts must be long enough to cover the waistband of pants, skirts, or shorts even when arms are raised over the student’s head.
Shorts/Skirts/Dresses - Shorts, skirts, tunics, skorts, or dresses must reach mid-thigh or lower.
Pants - Stretch pants, yoga pants and leggings must be worn with a shirt that covers the undergarment area at all times.

| 21-Day Challenge Sign Up Begins This Week! Sign-ups for the Kids Teaching Kids 21-Day Challenge! It will be open beginning Wednesday, September 28th. Help us meet our goal of 500 participants! Students will learn more about the challenge this week during their PE classes. We have some super fun and messy incentives if we reach our goal!! 1. September 28 – October 5: Parents sign your students up for the 21-Day Challenge at https://kids-teaching-kids.com/locations/ktk-north-texas/sign-up.dot 2. October 5 - 25: Students complete the 21-Day Challenge by choosing healthy snacks. 3. November 8 - 15: Parents complete the final survey for each student registered. - Parents will receive separate communications for each child that registered. Parent University September 29th - Social Media Awareness, Digital Citizenship, and Cyberbullying Time: 6:30pm – 8:30 pm. Remote via ZOOM or in-person at the Allen ISD PLAS Building As a parent/caregiver, you lead the charge as a digital role model. Help your child develop a strong digital citizenship foundation while reminding them that their digital tattoo reflects their real and online selves. Parents/Caregivers have an important role to play in providing support and guidance during critical periods. Security All visitors must show a photo ID before entering the building. Acceptable forms of identification are a driver's license, passport, or AISD badge. This includes lunch drop-off, student pick-up, volunteers, lunch visitors, etc. |

| Lunch Visitors Lunch is a time for our students to socialize and interact with their peers. While we do welcome lunch visitors, we ask that you keep in mind that this time is important for your child and their social development. Additionally, our space for lunch visitors is limited. Please consider scheduling lunch visits once per week or on special occasions. Lunch visitor expectations are detailed on the left. |

Run Club is ready for you Calling any and all K-6 graders who are wanting to get in some extra physical activity this year. Preston's Run Club is coming back for its 6th year. Run Club will meet on Tuesdays in the fall and spring from 3:00-3:40p.m., more specific dates are provided during registration. Starting on September 27th, Run Club is a supervised event that takes place after school in the field behind Preston.
