Reflections Entries Due Oct. 27th!

This year's Reflections' theme is Show Your Voice! The Reflections Program is an excellent way for your child to explore their creativity in various categories including Dance Choreography, Visual Arts, Music Composition, Literature, Film Production, and Photography. Winning students will have the opportunity to compete in the district-wide competition and beyond, and all participants will be celebrated at our Reflections Reception in November.

PTA NOVEMBER MEMBERSHIP MEETING!

Preston will be a polling location for the Election on November 8th. Preston PTA's Membership Meeting has been moved to Tuesday, November 15, 2022 @6.30pm.

Preston Publishers

Calling all budding authors! Order your child's Preston Publishers manuscript for $10 by November 3rd. The kit will be delivered to your child's homeroom the 2nd week of November. Click here for more information about the Preston Publishers Program. Happy writing!

Message from the Principal
21-Day Challenge Is Ongoing!

Sign-ups for the Kids Teaching Kids 21-Day Challenge began September 28th. Help us meet our goal of 500 participants! Students will learn more about the challenge this week during their PE classes. We have some super fun and messy incentives if we reach our goal!!

October 5 - 25: Students complete the 21-Day Challenge by choosing healthy snacks.

November 8 - 15: Parents complete the final survey for each student registered.

- Parents will receive separate communications for each child that registered. The final survey is required for each child to qualify for his/her reward.

Literacy Night – October 12th

The first Literacy Night at Preston is on Wednesday, October 12th from 5-6 pm. 

In addition, the Book Fair will be open 5:00-6:30pm! Join us for a spooktacular evening!

Monday, October 10 through Friday, October 14 - Book Fair Opens

  • October 10, Mon. 8am-3:30pm
  • October 11, Tues. 8am-3:30pm
  • October 12, Wed. 8am-3:30pm and *5-6:30pm
  • October 13, Thurs. 8am-3:30pm
  • October 14, Fri. 8am-1:00pm (Tear Down at 1pm)

Parents will have the opportunity to shop with their student during lunch time, if they are signed up as a lunch visitor or after school. Online shopping will also be available.

*The book fair will be open from 5 - 6:30pm during Family Literacy Night. 

Walk or Ride to School Day

Wednesday, October 12th is Walk or Bike to School Day!  

Get active as you head to school.  Bus riders will have the option to join the walkers at a designated drop off near the front cross walk.  Some lucky students will win prizes too. Don't miss out!

Science Fair

Registration for the Preston Science Fair is now open!  

Science Fair is an optional at-home project completed by students individually or in pairs. The age divisions for the Science Fair are K-3, 4-5, 6.  

To participate, sign up here by Friday,October 28. The rules and expectations for the Science Fair can be found on Mrs. Qureshi's webpage

There are four categories: Earth Science, Physical Science, Engineering, or Life Science. (All Life Science projects require special approval.) Final projects can be a physical board or a digital presentation and are due by December 1st.  

PES Lunch Menu

Hat Day on October 14th

$1 Hat Day for Kids Against Hunger will be held on Oct 14th. Come prepared!

Security

All visitors MUST have a photo ID to enter the building. This includes lunch drop-off, student pick-up, volunteers, visitors, etc. 

Acceptable forms of identification are a driver's license, passport, or AISD badge. 

Lunch Visitors - Information

Lunch is a time for our students to socialize and interact with their peers. While we do welcome lunch visitors, we ask that you keep in mind that this time is important for your child and their social development. Additionally, our space for lunch visitors is limited. Please consider scheduling lunch visits once per week or on special occasions. Lunch visitor expectations are detailed on the left.

Red Ribbon Week: October 24th – 28th
Oct. 31st - Character Dress-Up Day

Monday, October 31st is Character Dress-up Day at Preston. This is always such a fun day for our students and our staff. Below are the parameters that need to be followed if participating:

  • Costumes must meet ALL school dress code requirements
  • No scary or gory costumes
  • No costume masks
  • Students must be able to participate in daily routines and activities as normal
Picture Retakes

Traditions Portraits will be at Preston on November 1st for students who missed the first picture day or for picture retakes.

Fall Break October 17th – 21st

No school for students!

Important: Friday, October 21st is Parent Conference Day. Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher.

Grants for Allen Schools

The Foundation For Allen Schools is excited to announce its grant awards for the 2022-23 school year in Allen ISD will be its largest dollar amount to date: $249,255 to fund 126 grants across the entire district. Of these grants, more than $85,000 will focus on math grants, including a $52,000 grant which will impact every Kindergartner and first grade student in the district.
