Message from the Principal
Lunch Visitors

We are excited to welcome visitors for lunch, beginning Monday, September 11th. Please review the Lunch Visitor Guidelines before your visit. 

Lunch Visitor Guidelines

  • Visitors will eat on the stage with their student only; friends of the student are not permitted to join.
  • Remain in the cafeteria during your lunch visit and sign out in the office when finished. Do not visit other areas of the building without visiting the office for an updated visitor sticker. 
  • Younger siblings must stay seated at the visitor table.
  • Visitors are not permitted to bring food or drinks to share with students other than their own.
  • Students will dismiss with their class, please be mindful of when their lunch time ends. If you need to leave early, please have your child return to their lunch table. Contact your child’s teacher for specific lunch times.
  • Due to the Family Education and Family Rights Act (FERPA), recording or taking pictures of students and/or staff is prohibited.
Traffic Routes

Our traffic routes are running smoothly and we appreciate your cooperation so much! Please make sure you are following the correct routes, specifically in regards to traffic on Hilliard Drive. Please refer to the designated traffic routes, which can be found HERE

  • Please be courteous of the residents of Ridgeview Crossing during arrival and dismissal. Stay as far to the right of the roadway as possible and allow room for residents to enter/exit their driveway.
Reading with the Eagles

Allen Eagles football players, cheerleaders, trainers, and coaches will be at Preston on September 15th 7:30 am. Cheerleaders will be selling spirit ribbons for $1. Wear your Allen Eagle spirit wear to show support for our Allen Eagles! 

Student Holiday – No School

September 18th is a school holiday!

Picture Day

Traditions Portraits will be here for individual and class pictures on September 21st! These photos will be included in our 23-24 yearbook.

Community Engagement Night – September 19th, 5:30-8:00 pm

What do I do when my child is absent?

★ Option 1 (PREFERRED): Submit an Absence Request in Skyward.

(Click the link for instructions on how to submit an Absence Request.)

*At this time, you are not able to submit doctor’s notes in Skyward. Please submit those to the front office or email our registrar as indicated below.*

★ Option 2: Email our registrar (Natalie.Sawyer@allenisd.org) and your child’s homeroom teacher.

Include the student’s name, date(s) of the absence, and reason for the absence in your email.

★ Option 3: Send a note with your child when they return to school.

Include the student’s name, date(s) of the absence, and reason for the absence in your note.

 

Notes must be received within 3 school days of the student’s return following an absence. If a note is not received, absences will be marked unexcused. If your child’s absence for personal illness exceeds 5 consecutive days, a doctor’s note is required to excuse the absences.

Message from Allen ISD

Gifted & Talented services will offer an informational webinar outlining K-12 GT services on both August 30th and October 18th. Sessions will repeat, and registration is not required. Families can join with links on the GT portion of the AISD website.

Community Services: Parent University

Session #1 - Addressing Anxiety in Kids

WHEN: Two Sessions will be offered at Community Engagement Night on Tuesday, September 19th from 6-8PM

WHERE: Marion Elementary School (1595 Stablerun Drive, Allen, TX)

Dr. Ryan Smith (LMFT) is an expert in family therapy and development. In his presentations, Dr. Ryan helps parents develop a better understanding of the world their kids are growing up in. His goal is to empower parents to walk alongside growing children in a crucial but often confusing adolescent life stage. Dr. Ryan will address issues such as the impact of modern technology, the prevalence of depression and anxiety, and balancing schedules at a time when many families feel overwhelmed.  Attendees will leave better equipped to confront the challenges that modern adolescents and families face and with a deeper toolbox of strategies to help when things go wrong. 

Session #2 - Social Media Awareness, Digital Citizenship, and Cyber-Bullying

WHEN: Monday, September 25th from 6:30 - 8:00PM

WHERE: Online!  Register HERE.

This Parent/Caregiver session focuses on all things digital. This session will cover recommendations for family rules, parental controls, family tech plans, as well as suggestions for monitoring your tween/teen’s digital life.

Children encounter situations that will challenge their independence. Parents/Caregivers have an important role to play in providing support and guidance during critical periods. A snapshot of current trends and concerning apps and platforms will be provided to equip you in your digital parenting strategy.

WatchDOGS Pizza Night!

Join us to learn about the WatchDOGS program and have Pizza with your children on September 12 at 5:30pm in the Preston Cafeteria.

Anyone interested in volunteering as a WatchDOG should attend to learn more. Please complete your required PTA Membership and Volunteer Application prior to Pizza Night!

PTA Meeting on September 12th at 6.30 pm

Please join us for the Preston PTA Meeting on September 12, Tuesday, in the Preston Cafeteria. The meeting will immediately follow the WatchDOGS presentation and Pizza night. All members are encouraged to attend the PTA meeting. 

Field Trip & Spirit Wear Delivery Info

All 2023-2024 Field Trip Shirts and Spirit Wear items that were ordered by August 25, will be delivered to your child's classroom on September 20, Wednesday!

Save the date for the Jenny Preston Elementary Jamboree Carnival!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Friday, September 29th evening at the Preston Elementary playground. There will be a DJ, face painters, balloon animal artists, a bounce house combo and carnival games! The Dippin' Dots truck will also be on site. Be on the look out for a volunteer sign up on the Preston PTA website coming soon.

Our Fall Book Fair, Crack The Case: Uncover Your Next Favorite Read, is COMING SOON and we are calling all agents!
