Dads of great students
Introduction
We’re absolutely thrilled to have you join the WATCH D.O.G.S. program—where fathers, grandfathers, uncles, stepdads, and father figures step up to be present, positive forces in our school community. By signing up, you’re not just volunteering for a day—you’re stepping into a role that leaves a lasting impression on our students, teachers, and staff.
WATCH D.O.G.S. are everyday heroes who help make our school safer, more engaged, and more connected. Your day on campus might include greeting students with high fives at morning drop-off, assisting with classroom activities, monitoring the lunchroom, patrolling hallways, or helping during recess. Every moment matters—and every student sees you as someone who cares.
It’s a full-day commitment, but we can promise you this: you’ll walk away with more than just a name tag. You’ll leave with a heart full of joy, a greater appreciation for what our educators do every day, and the knowledge that your presence made a real difference.
Thank you for answering the call. Thank you for being here. Let’s make this day count.
Sign up for your WATCH D.O.G.S. shift today—and be the hero our students didn’t know they needed, but will never forget.

F.A.Q.
What are the goals of the Watch DOGS program?
-
To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
-
To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
Who are Watch DOGS?
As a "Hero of the Hallways", WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer for one day each school year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.
How does Watch DOGS work?
Fathers and father figures can sign up to volunteer for the program through Preston’s online calendar by clicking the button at the top of this page. The program is overseen by a "Top Dog" volunteer who partners with the school’s administration to coordinate scheduling and identify opportunities for WATCH D.O.G.S. to provide assistance at the school.
What do Watch DOGS do while they are at school?
On the day of their participation at Preston, WATCH D.O.G.S. arrive by 7:30 a.m. and proceed to the reception desk at the front of the school where they are given a customized schedule for the day. During the day, WATCH D.O.G.S. perform a variety of tasks, including monitoring the school entrances, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, and helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on various types of schoolwork. WATCH D.O.G.S. also perform many other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of WATCH D.O.G.S. dramatically reduces reports of bullying.
Will you really spend a full day at school?
Yes! WATCH D.O.G.S. has a great track record of bringing fathers and father figures to school for the whole day. While volunteering a day is a sacrifice, you can be sure that being a Hero of the Hallway more than makes up for it. In fact, in many cases, WATCH D.O.G.S. volunteer more because they had an incredible experience and because it gives them a greater appreciation for what teachers are doing to educate their children.
