National Spelling Bee

Every year, students from all walks of life have the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, one of the nation's oldest and most iconic competitions. They progress from classroom to cafeteria, from auditorium to civic center, delighting friends, family, sponsors and fans, just as millions of other students have done before them.

The Preston PTA is proud to sponsor the annual spelling bee for our school in partnership with Scripps. The 2023 Preston Elementary Spelling Bee will be held on December 1st. The winner of the Preston Elementary Spelling Bee (Grades 5-6) will advance to the Allen ISD Spelling Bee.

REGISTRATION Now open

You must register your child for them to participate in the spelling bee. The deadline for registration for Preston's 2023 bee is Thursday, November 2nd. To sign up, click on the Account tab and select My Forms/Paperwork. Scroll down to the Sales and Sign-up Forms section at the bottom. 

NOTE: If you are having trouble with this registration or your student is not showing up as eligible for Spelling Bee Registration, please ensure your Family Information registration is complete and your student(s) are added to your account (as Grade 3-6).

Preparing for the Bee

We highly encourage your child(ren) to study the words in preparation for the spelling bee. This is a great opportunity for each student to improve their spelling and have fun! A study list has been provided by Scripps. You can find it in your confirmation email after signing up. 

If necessary, classroom spelling bees will be held prior to the grade level spelling bees.
