Message from the Principal

Lunch Visitors

We’ve enjoyed having visitors during lunches these past two weeks; the kids get so excited having a guest and we LOVE that!! You may have noticed that Friday is a VERY popular day for lunch visitors. We are adding more chairs to the stage on Fridays to accommodate more guests. With the limited seating and so many visitors, please consider coming on a day other than Friday. Also, when your child’s lunch time is over, please allow them to join their class alone. They can walk to their table or meet their teacher independently. Visitors should not walk through the middle of the cafeteria. Thanks for your help with these items.

BOOK FAIR is OCTOBER 2nd - 5th!

Our Fall Book Fair is NEXT WEEK and we spy lots of readers! Students will preview the book fair on Thursday Sept 28th or Friday Sept 29th and will be bringing their wish list home. Students and parents will be able to purchase books:

October 2, Mon. 8am-3:30pm

October 3, Tues. 8am-3:30pm

October 4, Wed. 8am-3:30pm and *4:45pm - 6:15pm

October 5, Thurs. 8am-3:30pm

Parents will have the opportunity to shop with their student during lunch time and after school. Online shopping is available now - October 5th HERE

*The book fair will also be open from 4:45 pm - 6:15 pm during Literacy Night! Stop by and visit the book fair for some book or treats.

Literacy Night

We’re excited to bring Literacy Night back to Preston!

Have a night of fun as a family! Join us for this family event on October 4^th from 5:00-6:00 pm. The book fair will be open late and we can’t wait to see you!

Wear a book character costume or your favorite friendly costume!!

Parent Conference Day – October 13th

Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about setting up a parent conference.

Session #2 - Social Media Awareness, Digital Citizenship, and Cyber-Bullying

WHEN: Monday, September 25th from 6:30 - 8:00PM

WHERE: Online! Register HERE.

This Parent/Caregiver session focuses on all things digital. This session will cover recommendations for family rules, parental controls, family tech plans, as well as suggestions for monitoring your tween/teen’s digital life.

Children encounter situations that will challenge their independence. Parents/Caregivers have an important role to play in providing support and guidance during critical periods. A snapshot of current trends and concerning apps and platforms will be provided to equip you in your digital parenting strategy.

Gifted & Talented services will offer an informational webinar outlining K-12 GT services on both August 30th and October 18th. Sessions will repeat, and registration is not required. Families can join with links on the GT portion of the AISD website.

Save the date for the Jenny Preston Elementary Jamboree Carnival!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Friday, September 29th 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Preston Elementary playground. There will be a DJ, face painters, balloon animal artists, a bounce house combo and carnival games! The Dippin' Dots truck will also be on site. Be on the look out for a volunteer sign up on the Preston PTA website coming soon.

National Walk & Bike To School Day

National Walk & Bike to School Day is just around the corner on October 4! Join Preston Elementary in celebrating the benefits of active transportation and promoting the importance of safety. Students who walk or bike to school will get a ticket to enter a raffle so don't forget to grab one on your way in!

Arts and Education: Reflections!

The theme for this year is 'I am Hopeful Because...' Submissions are open to K-6 and due to the art room box by Monday, October 23.
